Today I woke up with fish on the brain. Or in my brain.
Alot of times when I have an image floating around in my head, it will continue to float around in my noggin' until I finally commit it to paper. So this morning I drew a very dreamy bevy of colorful fish along with the text " It's good to be together."
At the time I made no connection, but then the coffee kicked in...
After my CD release at the Elbo Room last Saturday night I was overwhelmed with a feeling of gratitude.
So many friends, family and aquaintences came out to support us musicians. Time is such a valuable thing to share; and people taking time out of their lives to come celebrate and party with us, well, that shit makes me want to draw something like a group of happy fish swimming together.
Also, I love the fact that no matter how you color in a fish, it will still look like a fish - so it's interesting to sort of invent your own species. Apparently my fish have heavy eyelids and think deep, soothing thoughts.
(maybe they smoked too much seaWEED. ha. haha. sorry.)
